A New Narrative Arts Experience, Where Traditional Stories Meet Diverse Performances
Located near the setting of the classic Rakugo masterpiece "Shibahama," MoN Takanawa is proud to host "Shibahama-tei," a monthly performance series introducing Rakugo and Japan's diverse cultural expressions.
Centered around authentic performances by seasoned traditional entertainers, the series presents a rich tapestry of arts combining music, Manzai (stand-up comedy), magic, acrobatics, and voice impressions. Each event features a talk session where the performers discuss the background of their works and techniques, allowing first-time audience members to easily immerse themselves in the world of traditional storytelling. Come and experience a crossroad of laughter, human drama, and modern sensibility. We invite you to spend an unforgettable moment that transcends borders and cultures at "Shibahama-tei."

July features Ryutei Kochiraku, a popular young Shin'uchi (master-ranked storyteller) who has been chosen to succeed to the prestigious title of the 6th Ryutei Chiraku. Blending the refined essence of Edo Rakugo with modern charm, this celebrated artist will grace the stage! Additionally, Kyoko, a Wazuma (traditional Japanese magic) master who seamlessly combines the sophistication of classical illusions with contemporary glamor, will perform breathtaking magic right before your eyes.
