Shibahamatei

A New Rakugo Experience, Where Traditional Stories Meet Diverse Performances
Every month at MoN Takanawa, near the setting of the classic rakugo tale Shibahama, a new series of performances called "Shibahamatei" introduces audiences to the rich world of Japanese traditional arts. The heart of the event is an authentic rakugo performance by a skilled veteran rakugoka (rakugo performer), enhanced by a cross-genre mix of music, comedy, magic, acrobatics, and ventriloquism, creating a "new-style rakugo" that blends traditional entertainment with a modern sensibility. Additionally, a post-performance discussion will dive into the background of the stories and the artistry behind the performances, offering a deeper understanding. This is a unique cultural experience at MoN Takanawa, perfect for first-timers and those looking to immerse themselves in the world of rakugo.
