Description

On July 29th, Wednesday, at 7:00 PM, the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra presents a concert entirely dedicated to the work of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, on the stage of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Under the direction of Argentine conductor Carlos Vieu, the program traverses different phases of the Russian composer's output, revealing his unique ability to transform emotion, drama, and lyricism into orchestral music of great impact.

The night begins with the Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, a work inspired by Shakespeare's tragedy and marked by intense contrasts between passion and conflict. Next, violinist Ricardo Amado, leader of the Petrobras Symphony Orchestra, performs the solos of the celebrated Violin Concerto in D major, one of Tchaikovsky's most virtuosic and moving pieces.

Closing the concert is the Symphony No. 1 in G minor, "Winter Dreams", written when the composer was 25, showcasing his expressiveness and talent for transforming landscapes and moods into music. A program that combines drama, virtuosity, and sonic imagination, offering a complete portrait of the emotional universe of one of the most beloved composers in music history.
