Former City Hall
The Former City Hall in Singapore, completed in 1929, is a historic neoclassical building located in the Civic District. Designed by British architects A. Gordans and F. D. Meadows, it originally housed government offices and played a pivotal role in key events, such as the Japanese surrender in 1945 and Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew's declaration of self-governance in 1959. Today, it is part of the National Gallery Singapore, housing a vast collection of Southeast Asian art.
