Description
Two Chinese teenagers are forcibly taken from their families and moved to a remote village in the mountains. There, they must get used to working in extremely harsh conditions. However, everything changes when they discover their ability to tell stories and how to get hold of Western books, i.e., banned books such as Balzac's “Lost Illusions” and Dumas' “The Count of Monte Cristo.” These readings will open the door to unknown feelings. The lives of these boys and, in particular, their friend the seamstress, will then move irrevocably towards freedom. Get your tickets for Dai Sijie's “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress”!
