Description
The “Know the Lady of the Cathedrals” guided tour will take you closer to the artistic, historical, and religious significance of the Segovia Cathedral. This tour aims to tell the history of the entire temple and its most important spaces through a journey that includes chapels, the choir, the cloister, and the exhibition halls. An official guide will explain its architecture, authors, artists, and clergy. The tour begins in the center of the Cathedral, beneath its crossing, to introduce the history of the temple. Dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin into Heaven and St. Frutos, it is the last Gothic cathedral built in Spain, giving it a unique character, transitioning to the Renaissance style, which lends it an elegance and slenderness both inside and outside. The tour proceeds to the choir, one of the preserved elements from the old cathedral, and its organs, representing the Spanish Baroque organ. Next, we visit the chapels with the most important artistic and religious significance, such as Juan de Juni's Piety, the Immaculate Conception, the Deposed Christ, and St. James the Apostle. In the second part, we access the Gothic cloister, also moved stone by stone from the old cathedral, and the four exhibition halls: the Santa Catalina Room, the Chapter Room, the Tapestries and Liturgical Ornaments Room, and the Painting Room.
