Description
The use of sargas spread throughout Spain during the reign of Philip II as a result of the Council of Trent. The numerous changes introduced in the Catholic liturgy contributed to the birth of the sarga or Holy Week monument as an essential artistic manifestation for the representation of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ during the Easter Triduum.
