Description
In the 19th century, Segovian women spent their evenings braiding rye straw sombreras, combining work with conversation. This female craft, tied to daily life, protected farmers, seamstresses, and pilgrims from the sun for generations. Today, nearly extinct, it is revived in the Weaving Memories Workshop. Across three sessions, participants will learn the full process: preparing the rye, mastering basic braids (carneja, pico, and open straw), crafting decorations such as charoles, fans, and cords, and finally sewing and assembling a complete sombrera.
