"A City Project: The Segovia Cathedral" is a guided tour that seeks to convey to the visitor the decisive impact of the Segovian people and the influence of royalty on the building. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption and San Frutos was, in the first place, a project of faith and devotion to God of the people of Segovia, which during the 243 years from the laying of the first stone in 1525 until the consecration in 1768, involved the different strata to see it completed. At the same time, kings have left their mark, from Charles I who ordered the construction of the Cathedral to Charles III who lent his royal architect, Sabatini, to design the altarpiece of the High Altar. The marked itinerary will guide chronologically in this history through the heritage of the temple and the mark left by generations of Segovians and royalty.
