The program includes classics such as Sing Sing Sing by Louis Prima, Cantaloupe Island by Herbie Hancock, and Second Line by Paul Barbarin, alongside works that have incorporated jazz language into the classical tradition, such as An American in Paris and Summertime by George Gershwin, Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen, and the Suite for Flute and Jazz Trio by Claude Bolling.
The performance also features the Italian composer based in France, Armando Ghidoni, whose style combines the tradition of Italian bel canto with jazz influences. The concert presents Amour and Alegre Marie, two works dedicated by Ghidoni to the conductor, clarinetist, and artistic director of Orquestra Excelsius, Maurício Silva. As special guests, the orchestra welcomes the AMNIS Duo, consisting of Maurício Silva (clarinet) and Maria Luísa Lundberg (piano), in a performance that blends orchestral sound with the expressiveness and freedom characteristic of jazz.
We look forward to seeing you!
