Description
Shortly before the start of its North America tour, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin stops in Herrenhausen with its programme “Europe dances!”. Enthusiasm for dance in the Baroque era knew no bounds. Whether in Versailles, Vienna or Herrenhausen – the courts of Europe were abuzz with minuets and galliards. The art of graceful movement was a central part of court culture.
The Akademie für Alte Musik pays tribute to the age of dancing Europe with captivating music, including Vivaldi’s and Geminiani’s dizzying ‘Follia’ variations and Jean-Féry Rebel’s great tribute to French dance culture, ‘Les Caractères de la Danse’. And that’s not all: the bassoonist Jani Sunnarborg is also a trained dancer and will show how fascinating the relationship between music, sound and movement is.
An event of the Hanover City Council.
