La Moneda was built as a colonial mint, became the presidential palace and was bombed in 1973. The repaired façade is still the centre of Chilean political life.
This self-guided audio tour crosses the old centre from the Plaza de Armas, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Casa Colorada to the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, the Municipal Theatre, the National Library, the Church of San Francisco and La Moneda itself.
Fifteen stops in the historic heart, roughly two hours at your own pace, with narration playing as you walk. Your phone is the guide, so start whenever you like and pause for a coffee whenever you want.
