Nike: Design in Motion is the first exhibition organized by a museum (Vitra Design Museum) entirely dedicated to the history and evolution of Nike’s design. Through a carefully curated selection of original objects, prototypes, legendary sneakers, and collaborations with artists and athletes, the exhibition traces the brand’s journey from its experimental beginnings in the 1960s to its latest innovations in sustainability and technology. Divided into four thematic sections — Track, Air, Sensation, and Collaboration — the exhibition highlights milestones such as the creation of the Waffle sole, the Air Max and Air Jordan revolutions, the advances of the Nike Sport Research Lab, and partnerships with world-renowned designers. Beyond sports, it explores how Nike has influenced identity, inclusion, and pop culture.
