Temporary exhibitions Sala Fundación MAPFRE Recoletos Madrid
From February 19 to May 17, 2026:

Anders Zorn. Travel the world, remember the earth

  • Anders Zorn (1860–1920) was one of the most outstanding Swedish painters of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Coming from a humble background, he gained international fame as a portrayer of kings, presidents and celebrities, and his virtuosity in oil, watercolor and engraving, as well as his famous nudes, established him as a prestigious European artist.
  • The exhibition traces Zorn's career from his early watercolors and his time in England to Paris, where he established himself under the influence of Impressionism, through his travels to the United States and his return to Mora, focusing on Swedish daily life, and also including his Spanish production and his artistic vínculo with Joaquín Sorolla.

Helen Levitt

  • Helen Levitt (1913–2009) built one of the most personal and poetic views of 20th-century urban life over more than seven decades. Fascinated by the streets of New York, she began photographing in the late thirties children’s games, everyday gestures and scenes from working-class neighborhoods, making them her inexhaustible source of inspiration. The exhibition brings together nearly two hundred works distributed in nine sections, offering a comprehensive overview of her career, from her early photographs to her cinematic explorations, and showing the unique vision of Helen Levitt, a pioneer and reference in urban photography with a strong social commitment.
