"Birthplace of British cinema
Reformed to its former glory, last year the Regent Street Cinema re-opened its doors to the public. The history behind this place is mind blowing. Not only the first place moving images were screened in Britain but also where the first X-rated film was shown with Pablo Picasso. Built in 1848, this place oozes memories, you’ve got to check it out! This October, to celebrate London Surf / Film festival, come along for a screening of ‘Unchartered Waters’. The film is about Australian Surf legend Wayne Lynch. Set against the backdrop of disaffected youth, the Vietnam war and the increasing commodification of surfing, this film succeeds in lifting the curtain to glimpse Lynch’s character and motivation, while showing the massive effect he brought to the lifestyle and the influence he has had, and continues to have on our most groundbreaking surfers. Wayne is one influential and enigmatic character, come hear his story!
No better place to watch the flicks!
