Cathedral and Episcopal Palace Hours:
Monday to Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Sundays: Cathedral from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Episcopal Palace from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time.
🕛 The schedule for cultural visits may be adjusted due to liturgical events.
Free entrance to the temple is available on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (April to October) and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (November to March).
During this period, the cloister, exhibition rooms, and chapels will be closed.

👤 Age Requirement: All ages are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
♿ Accessibility: The site is not accessible for people with reduced mobility. However, a person accompanying someone with a disability of over 65% can access the site at a reduced ticket price.

Description
"Between Two Cathedrals" is a special tour that uncovers the history of the old cathedral, which stood in front of the Alcázar, and the context surrounding the construction of the current cathedral, located farther from the fortress. During the tour, you'll stop to explore paintings, sculptures, vestments, and even the cloister itself—many of which were transferred from the old Santa Maria Cathedral and integrated into the new architectural design. This tour is being offered in 2025 in honor of the 500th anniversary of the construction of Segovia Cathedral. The old cathedral, built in front of Segovia's Alcázar after the city's reconquest in the late 11th century, was expanded and renovated over time to accommodate Segovia's growing political and religious significance. In 1520, the War of the Communities changed everything. This war pitted royalist troops of King Charles I against the comuneros, a Castilian rebel group. The old cathedral, due to its proximity to the Alcázar, was damaged, and while repairs were possible, the victory of Charles I led him to order the construction of a new cathedral—this time farther from the Alcázar to separate civil and religious power. Thus began the incredible journey of Segovia’s people and the Church to build what would become the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin and San Frutos, the last Gothic cathedral built in Spain.
