Description
On July 16, 1768, the Cathedral of Segovia was consecrated after more than two centuries of construction. This day, marked on the calendar, was celebrated with great joy by the people of Segovia and 257 years later it will be remembered with the visit "Consecration of the Cathedral" on this anniversary of the commemoration of the V Centenary of the construction. It will be held every Wednesday, at 17:00, during July. The rite of consecration began at dawn on July 16 with an organization that involved the entire society of Segovia. Months before the important date, still in 1767, preparations were initiated by the Cathedral Chapter and by the Bishop of the Diocese, José Martínez Escalzo. The Cathedral of Segovia had to have every possible detail and cornucopias -mirrors visible today throughout the temple- and crosses were ordered to be distributed throughout the naves. These details, history and the meaning of the consecration will be conveyed during the visit. Get your tickets for the Consecration of the Cathedral in Segovia!
