MEET Digital Culture Center

šŸ’„MEET Digital Culture Center
MEET Digital Culture Center is Italy's first international center for digital art and culture. Born in Milan in 2018 with the support of Fondazione Cariplo and founded by Maria Grazia Mattei, it formally opens to the public in October 2020 with the aim of helping to bridge the Italian digital divide by promoting international initiatives in immersive spaces.

MEET explores and showcases people, languages, creative ideas, and innovative projects through a diverse program of events such as meetings, exhibitions, training experiences, performances, and activities that put people back at the center of technological change.

🟠The entrance ticket grants access to the entire ongoing program at MEET Digital Culture Center🟠

Highlights

ONGOING EVENTS

🌟Liquid Chimeras (from February 5)
Wednesday to Sunday – Immersive Room and Gallery
The exhibition arises from the urgency to reinterpret the relationship between knowledge, technology, and imagination. Data on planet Earth are partial, especially those concerning oceanic ecologies, and the tools that collect them are vulnerable and influenced by technological and economic limits. Where information is lacking, creative opportunities arise. Curated by Eleonora Brizi, the exhibition explores this space of uncertainty as a fertile ground for artistic creation, a recurring theme in the work of the duo Entangled Others (Sofia Crespo and Feileacan McCormick). Born from the European Studiotopia project, in which the artists collaborated with oceanographer Joan Llort, the exhibition transforms uncertainty into narrative and ecological possibilities. Art operates in these liminal territories where gaps become generative spaces.

UPCOMING

🌟In the Forest of the Future: VR Workshop and Family Show
Sundays on March 1, April 12, May 3
What if we could imagine the future of our planet together? And if, to do so, we could enter a forest that does not yet exist but could one day become reality? Once a month, MEET organizes an afternoon fully dedicated to families with children aged 4 to 10, participating in a project that combines technology, art, and play into an engaging and interactive story. Two sessions, designed to explore the relationship between humans, nature, science, and imagination with a fresh perspective: from 3:00 PM the interactive virtual reality workshop ā€œIn the Number Forestā€ and from 5:00 PM the show ā€œIn the Forest of the Future.ā€ The project is by Ariella Vidach AiEP / DiDstudio and is realized with the support of MEET Digital Culture Center, MIC – Ministry of Culture, and the City of Milan. An afternoon when families can spend time together creatively, approaching virtual reality not only as spectators but also as protagonists, while reflecting on a changing world and how seemingly distant realms like technology and the environment can be intertwined.

NB. The workshop is reserved for children aged 4 to 10.

🌟 Renaissance Dreams
Every Tuesday – Immersive Room
The renowned Turkish media artist Refik Anadol, who first exhibited in Italy at MEET in 2020, has created ā€œRenaissance Dreamsā€ especially for the Center’s Immersive Room. This site-specific work generated by AI presents images drawn from a dataset of artistic works produced in Italy during the Renaissance (1300-1600), which are then transformed and reinterpreted by algorithms that alter forms, colors, and create original sounds.Ā

🌟The Roots of the New
Tuesday to Sunday – MEET Digital Culture Center
The Roots of the New is an ongoing project that traces the key stages of digital creative evolution through the collection of posters, iconic objects, and videos of exhibitions, festivals, and major events from the Italian and international scenes, all sourced from the MEET Archive. By visiting and exploring MEET’s three floors, you can immerse yourself in a journey through artists and movements that, from the last century to today, have initiated the process of research and expressive experimentation triggered by the advent of digital technologies.
