MEET Digital Culture Center

๐Ÿ’ฅMEET Digital Culture Center
MEET Digital Culture Center is the first International Center for Digital Art and Culture in Italy. Born in Milan in 2018 with the support of Fondazione Cariplo and founded by Maria Grazia Mattei, it officially opened to the public in October 2020 with the aim of helping to bridge the Italian digital gap by promoting international-style initiatives in immersive spaces.

MEET explores and tells the stories of people, languages, creative ideas, and innovative projects through a program of initiatives such as meetings, exhibitions, training experiences, performances, and activities that put people at the center of technological change.

๐ŸŸ  Your ticket gives you access to the entire ongoing program at MEET Digital Culture Center๐ŸŸ

Highlights

CURRENT EVENTS

๐ŸŒŸ Synthetic Creatures (from May 7 to September 2026)
Thursday to Sunday โ€“ Immersive and Gallery Rooms
A retrospective dedicated to Rebecca Allen, a pioneer of computer animation who has been exploring the relationship between body and technology for over fifty years. The exhibition examines how the digital can become a space of presence and not just abstraction, where the body transforms into language and identity. From the earliest animations of the 1970s to virtual reality installations, the exhibition highlights the evolution of the human body's representation in the digital world, conveying a radical message: that technology is not neutral and that the digital requires a physical perspective. The exhibition also addresses a political dimension: the presence of the body, often female, in the digital challenges the idea of neutral and disembodied technology. Synthetic Creatures offers a contemporary reflection on identity, perception, and the transformation of the self in the age of virtual worlds.

COMING UP

๐ŸŒŸ Journey to Italy
Wednesday to Sunday โ€“ MEET Digital Culture Center
Journey to Italy is one of the first web series entirely generated with artificial intelligence. A work that sits at the intersection of documentary, fiction, and metanarrative, it represents one of the most ambitious attempts to bring cinematic language into the realm of AI video generation. The series tells the story of an experimental broadcast created by a group of inventors from the University of Pisa and Olivetti in the 1960s. The crew documents a reality produced by a computing laboratory: a simulation of Italy generated by a machine. The story starts from real elements and then opens onto a parallel timeline where a powerful artificial intelligence allows memory to be explored as a navigable space. The Italy we see is not documented but recreated: recognizable yet transfigured, familiar and unsettling.

PERMANENT CONTENT

๐ŸŒŸ Renaissance Dreams
Every Wednesday โ€“ Immersive Room
The famous Turkish media artist Refik Anadol, who first exhibited in Italy at MEET in 2020, created "Renaissance Dreams" especially for the Center's Immersive Room. This site-specific work is generated with the help of AI. Images from a dataset of artistic works produced in Italy during the Renaissance (1300โ€“1600) flow before the viewer's eyes, altered and reinterpreted by algorithms that change shapes and colors and create original sounds.

๐ŸŒŸ The Roots of the New
Wednesday to Sunday โ€“ MEET Digital Culture Center
The Roots of the New is a project in progress that traces, through the collection of posters, iconic objects, and videos of exhibitions, reviews, and key events from the Italian and international scenes sourced from the MEET Archive, the fundamental stages of digital creative evolution. Visiting and exploring MEET's three floors, you can immerse yourself in a walk through the artists and movements that, from the last century to today, have driven the process of research and expressive experimentation sparked by the advent of digital technologies.
