Description
The not-always-glamorous legend of a mythical neighborhood. The tour will highlight the famous cabarets where many artists and songwriters once performed. While several music halls and concert venues still exist today, anecdotes and photos will bring vanished cabarets back to life and help explain why Montmartre and its boulevards enjoy worldwide fame.
From Anvers to Place Blanche, both past and present iconic spots will be revealed, along with stories about the many well-known and anonymous figures who frequented them. Beyond the charm of the hill, Montmartre was long a must-visit destination for partygoers and night owls in search of thrills.
The tour will also revisit the neighborhood’s more scandalous past, once a hub for the underworld and a key meeting place for criminals and prostitution. The walk will end in front of the Moulin Rouge, offering a moment to reflect on what remains today of the myth of Pigalle.
