Description
johann Sebastian Bach's "St John Passion" takes the form of an oratorio. The work was composed during Bach's first year as cantor of St. Thomas's Church in Leipzig, and performed at the same venue for the first time on Good Friday 1724. This work refers to the Passion of Christ according to the Gospel of John. Together with the St. Matthew Passion, also by Bach, it is the culmination of a very old tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, which consists of singing the Passion of Christ during Holy Week. This is one of the richest and most grandiose works of its kind. Buy your tickets for Hélios Orchestra: Bach's St John Passion in Paris!
