Three iron cages still hang from the tower of St Lamberti, left there after the Anabaptist kingdom of 1535 was crushed and its leaders were displayed above the street.
This self-guided audio tour works through the cathedral quarter: the St-Paulus-Dom and its astronomical clock, the Domplatz, the arcades of the Prinzipalmarkt, the Town Hall where the Peace of Westphalia was signed, St Lamberti and the Picasso museum.
Fifteen stops in the old centre, roughly two hours at your own pace, with narration playing as you walk. Your phone is the guide, so start whenever you like and pause for a coffee whenever you want.
