Description
At RESOBOX East Village, settle into a two-hour Kinpaku workshop rooted in Kanazawa’s 400-year gold leaf tradition. See how gold is beaten almost weightless, then choose a design for your chopsticks.
Cut shapes, scatter flakes, make a clean band, or twist the gold into a spiral. Your instructor seals the pair with a protective topcoat, and you take it home boxed, to keep or to give as a gift. Is this kintsugi? No: kintsugi mends broken ceramics with lacquer and gold, and this class is about the gold itself. Photos and video will be taken during the October 26 session; you’ll be asked to sign a short photo release on the day, and anyone who’d rather not appear will be kept out of frame. Get your tickets now for The Gold of Japan: Gold Leaf Chopstick Workshop in New York, NY!
