Description
In 2026, Segovia will celebrate the Jubilee Year of St. John of the Cross in a special way, an event of great spiritual and cultural significance for the city, closely linked to the presence and legacy of the saint. Throughout the year, various commemorative activities will take place, which can be consulted in a specific program, complementary to the proposals included in Segovia con Alma. On this occasion, you will explore the Convent of San Juan de Dios, popularly known as “las Juaninas.” It was founded as a convent-hospital in the 16th century and, over the centuries, has been a cornerstone for social and religious assistance in Segovia. Today, the building is the headquarters of Cáritas Diocesana de Segovia, which continues its legacy of care and service to the most vulnerable people. Its architecture and history reflect the importance of hospitable and charitable work in the city, as well as the link between religious life and social action.
