Description
MANGALOGUE : HINOTORI is a groundbreaking live manga experience that uses the original drawings and words from HINOTORI (Phoenix) by Osamu Tezuka as its starting point. Instead of reading manga alone, the entire venue shares the story together in a live format.

Rather than adapting manga into film or theater, this performance shares the manga experience itself as a live event—including the act of turning pages, the shifting perspectives, and the process of becoming immersed in the narrative. Audiences can relive the unfolding of the story in real time.

The inaugural MANGALOGUE presentation features HINOTORI (Phoenix): Future, which depicts the year 3404. Exploring themes of humanity and civilization, technological progress, and the cycle of life, this story portrays a society living alongside electronic brains (AI) and robots. Conceived more than half a century ago, it resonates strikingly with today’s technological and social realities—making it, in many ways, a modern prophecy.

This special performance commemorates the opening of MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives. In a venue dedicated to exploring how stories are received and shared, MANGALOGUE : HINOTORI presents manga not simply as a medium, but as a shared experience.
