Description
La Biblioteca Fantàstica de les Bèsties broadens our view of the medieval world, a universe full of fantasy, epic tales, and color that spanned Europe. These roots allow us to understand why medieval beasts are still so relevant in contemporary popular culture.
In the VR360º virtual reality experience, a virtual map invites visitors to discover impressive hybrid and fantastic beasts from the medieval world, such as the phoenix, the dragon, the harpy, and the whale. In addition, the immersive 20 minute film included in this experience features unprecedented projection about nine of the most epic medieval beasts and presents them in a spectacular and innovative format, highlighting some of its protagonists such as the pawn, the basilisk, the elephant, the centaur, and the mermaid. The project was born out of the success of the temporary exhibition “Bèsties” at the MEV, Museu d'Art Medieval, which won the Catalan Association of Museologists' award for the best exhibition of the year and the Sàpiens Award for the best historical dissemination initiative, curated by Judit Verdaguer and Marc Sureda.
