Description
Pierre et Gilles: The Construction of the Symbol brings together, for the first time in Mexico, the works of this legendary French artistic duo. Through a distinctive style that combines staged photography with meticulous painting, the artists portray celebrities, models, and imaginary characters in compositions filled with symbolism. The 96 selected works establish a visual dialogue with pieces from the Franz Mayer Collection, exploring themes such as gesture, the symbolism of objects, allegory, and desire.
The exhibition is divided into five thematic sections and includes new works created especially for this occasion. During their first visit to Mexico, the artists will present the official catalogue at Marrakech Salón, an icon of the LGBTQ+ nightlife scene in the capital. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a parallel program of activities and workshops that enrich this transformative artistic proposal. An unmissable exhibition for anyone seeking art, diversity, and symbolism in a single experience.
