Depresión Sonora at Apolo, Barcelona 2025

🌟 It would be easy to say that Depresión Sonora sounds like the 80s, but Marcos Crespo from Vallecas isn’t interested in what’s easy or obvious. A better way to get closer to the heart of his project would be to say that Depresión Sonora sounds like a blurry memory of the 80s; something we may not have even lived through but that evokes precise sensations and textures, those of a desperate and biting anxiety that connects two or even three generations, from Derribos Arias to Yung Lean. When he emerged during the pandemic (when else?), he was labeled post-punk, although Depresión Sonora has ultimately followed its own musical logic. In his underground anthems, which have even taken him to Coachella, you can trace elements of bedroom rock, gritty dark wave, or synth-pop that reminds us the term once meant something: clues that now lead not only to Los Perros No Entienden Internet, his second album, but also to his status as a contemporary cult project. He will perform on February 12th in Barcelona (Sala Apolo).
