Description
In 1454, Henry IV ordered the construction of a pleasure house on his estate, El Campillo. The following year, he donated it to the Franciscans, transforming it into a convent dedicated to San Antonio. On April 12, 1488, during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs, it was ceded to the Franciscan Poor Clares. It was declared a building of historic-artistic interest on June 3, 1931. During the tour, you will be guided by Alberto García Gil, an architect who graduated from the E.T.S. Architecture of Madrid in 1967. He pursued specialized studies at ICROM (Rome Center) of UNESCO in 1969 and was involved in the management of the restoration works of 1970 on the Aqueduct. He also served as Head of the Technical Services at the General Commissariat of Patrimony. Get your tickets for Heritage Sundays: Monastery of San Antonio el Real in Segovia!
