Description
The Ipiranga Museum is the home of the Paulista Museum in the city of São Paulo, specializing in history and cultural material and is part of the University of São Paulo. The building housing the exhibitions today was built between 1885 and 1890 and designed to be a monument to the Proclamation of Independence, which took place in 1822. In 1895, the building opened its doors to the public as a museum, and since then millions of people have visited it.
