Description
The "Meet the Dame of Cathedrals" guided tour will introduce you to the artistic, historical, and religious significance of the Segovia Cathedral. This tour aims to tell the story of the entire temple and its most significant spaces through a tour that includes chapels, the choir, the cloister, and the exhibition rooms. An official guide will explain its architecture, authors, artists, and clergy. The tour starts at the center of the Cathedral, under its crossing, to introduce the history of the temple. Dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Frutos, it is the last Gothic-style cathedral built in Spain, giving it a unique character, transitioning to the Renaissance style, which imparts elegance and slenderness both inside and outside. The tour moves toward the choir, one of the preserved elements of the old cathedral, and its organs, which are representative of the Spanish Baroque organ. Next, the tour visits chapels with significant artistic and religious meaning, such as the Juan de Juni or Piety Chapel, the Immaculate Conception, the Christ of the Holy Sepulcher, and St. James the Apostle. In the second part, visitors access the Gothic cloister, also transferred stone by stone from the old cathedral, and the four exhibition rooms: the St. Catherine Room, the Chapter Room, the Tapestries and Liturgical Ornaments Room, and the Paintings Room.
