Description
The Imperial Carriage Museum Vienna near Schƶnbrunn Palace invites you to take a walk through Austria’s history. Discover the carriages of famous rulers such as Maria Theresa, Napoleon, and Franz Joseph, and accompany them through their eventful lives. The highlight is the Baroque Imperial Coach, but also on display are exquisite State Coaches, comfortable Travel Coaches, and the charming Children’s Carriages of the Habsburg princes and princesses. Since 2008, visitors have also been able to enjoy the Sisi Trail in the museum’s main gallery, following the life of Empress Elisabeth from her wedding to her tragic death—as told through the exhibition of her many personal carriages. All carriages are displayed alongside portraits, paintings, and unique items that once belonged to Sisi. Also on show are the only surviving saddle of the Empress (regarded as the best rider of her time) and her reconstructed ā€œriding chapelā€ with portraits of her favourite horses.
