As the home of the Kita school, it continues to convey a powerful and profound artistic style that is both simple and bold, said to be favored by samurai. The kagami-ita (back panel) was painted by artist Kōhei Ezaki and supervised by Seison Maeda, a leading Japanese painter of the Showa era (and a recipient of the Order of Culture). The pine tree, with its thick, rising roots and lush branches, perfectly symbolizes the powerful and profound style of the Kita school.
