The zero milestone of the city of São Paulo is a geographical monument located in Praça da Sé, in front of the Cathedral. It is the reference for the numerical ordering of the distance of routes that begin in the capital of São Paulo, as well as measuring railway, air lines, and telephone numbering. Furthermore, the Marco Zero is recognized by the city hall as a strong São Paulo sentiment, highlighting the role of the state's formation. It was inaugurated in 1934 and is the first zero milestone in all of South America.
