Fontaine aux Lions

The Fountain of the Nubian Lions is a historical monument located in Parc de la Villette. Erected in 1811 by Pierre-Simon Girard, it originally stood at Place de la République. Relocated in 1867, it served as a watering place for animals from the nearby livestock market. It consists of eight cast-iron lions spouting water into stone basins. Classified as Historical Monuments, it now adorns the esplanade of the Grande Halle, near the Cité des Sciences et de la Musique.
