The Gordon Chapel at Old South Church in Boston
Old South Church was founded in 1669 by 28 men, and a similar number of women, who broke away from Boston's First Church to make baptism more liberal. Its founders were descendants of separatist Pilgrims and Puritan reformers and included merchants, farmers, and craftsmen. They left England for religious freedom and better lives in the New World.
