Cathedral of Sainte-Marie of Bayonne

Bayonne Cathedral, with its twin towers dominating the heart of the historic center, is one of Bayonne's most iconic monuments. Built on a former Roman fortified camp that evolved into a festive maritime city, it has lived through the great periods of history—from the English rule of Richard the Lionheart to the Hundred Years' War, and from the Gothic era to its Neo-Gothic completion in the 19th century.
