Description

10TH SEASON!

After the success obtained with great classics such as Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, Cyrano de Bergerac, The Count Monte Cristo or Miss Julia, the Cía. Paloma Mejía Martí presents "La Casa de Bernarda Alba", a masterpiece and one of the master's most performed plays. With audacity and exceptional language, Lorca is capable of stirring consciences and touching everyone's soul. The last rural tragedy written by Federico García Lorca: in early 20th century Spain, Bernarda Alba, widowed for the second time, forces her five daughters to maintain a rigorous and prolonged mourning that isolates them from the outside world. These six women, Bernarda's mother and the maid of the household, star in the play written by Federico García Lorca in 1936, which he never saw performed. In "La Casa de Bernarda Alba", repressive morality and the yoke of appearances undermine women's rights. Adapted by the Paloma Mejía Martí Theater Company to contemporary stage forms, it is a timeless play that remains a valuable example for playwrights and societies today. Paloma Mejía focuses on the elevation of the poetic as a dramatic instrument  . A torrent of contrasting emotions, passion and creativity threaded with luminous rhythm, music, symmetry and order.
