Description
This February, the Jazz Cafe invites two of the UK's most exciting crossover jazz-influenced bands to perform a re-work of Van Morrison's 1968 magnum opus: Astral Weeks. Combining disparate influences from across jazz, folk and blue-eyed soul, the record was a slow burner and far from an immediate success. It baffled critics and fans alike, but grew in stature over the decades to reach towering cult status. Both Waldo's Gift and Ishmael Ensemble have been breaking the boundaries where jazz, classical and electronic instrumentation meet improvised music; this new sonic adventure is a great opportunity to see two rising talents present a unique take on a cult classic.
