Description
The family concert is specially designed for Herrenhausen Baroque. Explanations of the composition and the instruments help children and adults to get closer to the music and the composer. Look forward to a wonderful Handel afternoon in the Galerie Herrenhausen!
On 16 June 1710, George Frideric Handel was appointed court kapellmeister in the service of the Hanoverian court on the recommendation of Agostino Steffani. Although Handel did not return to Hanover after his second London trip in the autumn of 1712, this fact, sometimes interpreted as an act of disobedience, is also due to the fact that Sophie of Hanover had already been designated as the successor to the British monarchy since 1701 and the House of Welf had since then been waiting for the moment to move to London. Thus, Handel was only the vanguard.
An event organized by the City of Hanover in cooperation with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, the Forum Agostino Steffani e.V. (10th Steffani Festival Week Hanover) and the Knabenchor Hannover.
