Orchestral works by Jean-Féry Rebel, Georg Friedrich Händel and Antonio Vivaldi, as well as choral works (a cappella) from various eras.
Description
FIRE, WATER, EARTH and AIR – powerful Baroque music expressing both the contrast and interplay of these four elements, presented by the Collegium Musicum of the Goetheschule in a special school concert.
For the fourth time, the ensemble has appeared in this concert series with a program in which music and text complement, reinforce and reflect each other. The works of Händel, Vivaldi and Rebel are contrasted by choral pieces from various eras: from Thomas Morley’s metaphorical fire alarm (“Fyer Fyer”) to Mendelssohn’s windy autumn song to Murray Schafer’s depiction of water (“Chant for Clear Water”).
The “Kult und Bühne” group opens up a view of the elements that form worlds and tell stories with their own and found texts, images and voices. In interaction with the orchestra and choir, new spaces emerge between the force of nature, human experience and imagination.
