Description
As America’s 250th celebration of the Declaration of Independence comes to a close, ring out the momentous anniversary year with winter nights aglow in red, white and blue. The Winter Lantern Festival returns to Jamestown Settlement, a museum of 17th-century Virginia, on select evenings, November 6 to December 10, and each evening, December 17 to January 3, 5-10 p.m. Produced by Kaleido Entertainment, the Winter Lantern Festival illuminates Jamestown Settlement after dark with a dazzling display of light for the whole family. Guests can wander among glowing lanterns in patriotic displays, historical and natural settings befitting the days of early America, each artisan-crafted lantern composed of hand-painted silk cloth draped over a frame filled with glimmering lights. Ranging from 6- to 30-feet high, the lanterns feature a variety of figures and designs, including woodland creatures, natural landscapes, and glimpses of American history and innovative spirit, projecting a wonderland of light and color.
