Description
The event “Between Samba and Ballet: Realities and Possibilities” primarily aims to investigate and preserve cultural memory in the realm between Samba and Ballet. It is part of the development of a theoretical and practical research project related to the Final Paper (TCC) of the Bachelor's degree in Dance at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), conducted by Anderson Dionísio, solo dancer at Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and also a Carnaval passista.

The program will include lectures on the legacy of Mercedes Baptista, her Afro-Brazilian dance methodology, and research related to her career, such as the story of Gilberto de Assis, with the participation of, among others, professors Paulo Melgaço and Marcus Vinícius. In addition, there will be performances by various choreographers such as Anderson Dionísio, Simone Falcão, and Ana Lúcia Silva from the Cia Livre de Dança da Rocinha, promoting a dialogue between ballet and samba.
