Years pass, trends expire, and musical paradigms change, but in the dark waters of post-punk, there is always someone who continues to splash around comfortably, especially in latitudes like Manchester, the historical spring of this dark and distorted variant of rock. From there, the birthplace of bands like The Chameleons, Magazine, and of course Joy Division, comes IST IST, a quartet that has already surpassed its first decade of career managing its destiny through its own record label, Kind Violence Records. With five albums under their belt, Adam Houghton, Andy Keating, Joel Kay, and Mat Peters have developed a career that is like a tug-of-war between guitars and synthesizers: sometimes one wins and sometimes the other, but an 80s nostalgia, well-understood and even better executed, always wins.
