Description
The Fantastic Library of Beasts broadens our understanding of the medieval world: a universe filled with fantasy, epic tales, and vibrant color that stretched from the north to the south of Europe. These cultural roots help explain why medieval beasts remain so present in contemporary popular culture.
In the 360º virtual reality experience, a virtual map invites visitors to discover extraordinary hybrid and fantastical creatures from the medieval world, such as the phoenix, dragon, harpy, and whale.
The immersive film of this experience dedicates 20 minutes to an unprecedented projection featuring nine of the most legendary medieval beasts, showcasing characters such as the peon, basilisk, elephant, centaur, and mermaid in a spectacular and innovative immersive format.
The project stems from the success of the temporary exhibition “Bèsties” at the MEV, Museu d'Art Medieval, winner of the Catalan Association of Museologists’ award for Best Exhibition of the Year and the Sàpiens Award for Best Historical Dissemination Initiative, curated by Judit Verdaguer and Marc Sureda.
