EVENT DETAILS:
HIGHLIGHTS:
DESCRIPTION:
Occurring outdoors at dusk, this first-of-its-kind theater experience marks the end of one era and announces the dawn of another through movement, sound, costume, and spectacle. The evening begins with a brief orientation, followed by an open-air food market and live musical prelude from our house ensemble. As twilight descends, passengers don headsets transmitting a cinematic score featuring artists such as Air, El Búho, Kiasmos, Rival Consoles, A Beautiful Chorus, Boreta, and TOKiMONSTA.
What follows is a wordless journey through choreographed movement (from global hip hop battle dance talent including MiYU and Cap Jay), archetypal costuming and puppetry (with works by Jonny Cota, Damselfrau, Spencer Hansen, and Orly Anon), drone apparitions (by Nova Sky Stories), robotics, participation, and integration.
At evening's close, all are invited to join the procession and gather for shared tea and ambient sounds in the Afterlife and whatever may await beyond the veil. DJ sets and live musical appearances TBA.
In an era defined by disconnection and cultural upheaval, The Cortège offers a rare space for solace, celebration, and renewal. Amid a rapidly expiring culture and scarcity of shared meaning, The Cortège serves as a container for collective and individual grief.
