9e Musique@17h: HausMusique - Mythologies

HAUSMUSIQUE

Have you heard of Le 9e, the mythical Art Deco space atop Montreal’s Eaton Centre? Newly reopened, it has been transformed into a gorgeous space for music.

On January 6th, we will be filling this space with the sounds of a newly-arrived Steinway Hamburg Model D Concert Grand. It’s the Rolls Royce of pianos.

Playing on this magnificent instrument will be Ilya Poletaev, professor at McGill’s world-renowned School of Music. Ilya performs on stages all over the world, including the famous Carnegie Hall in New York. He is the only Canadian to ever win the International Bach Competition in Leipzig, and has an unparalleled gift for musical expression at the piano.

This concert will take you on a journey through the stories of ancient mythology, as expressed by some of history’s greatest composers. Two of them you may know already – Beethoven & Debussy – but you’ll also discover the transfixing music of the little-known but formidable Nikolai Medtner.

To add some extra musical flavour, appropriate to the mythological theme, Montreal flautist Ariane Brisson will be joining Ilya for part of the program.

Join us for the first HausMusique concert of 2026!
