About the concert

Towards the end of his life, the German composer Johannes Brahms decided to stop composing forever – until he heard a clarinetist who sparked a whole new inspiration in him! His trio for clarinet, cello, and piano is the result of that inspiration, and one of the greatest pieces of music of all time.

Accompaniment will feature a Beethoven trio for the same instruments, composed when he was only 27. It is a work full of liveliness, with moments of tenderness as well as humor.

HausMusique’s artistic directors, Meagan and Cameron, are delighted to welcome one of Canada’s most distinguished musicians, James Campbell, to play with them for this concert. A world-renowned clarinetist, he has performed alongside the most eminent musicians, such as Glenn Gould and the famous American composer Aaron Copland.
