About the concert

Towards the end of his life, German composer Johannes Brahms decided never to compose again—that is, until a clarinetist's playing sparked a whole new inspiration within him! His trio for clarinet, cello, and piano was the fruit of that inspiration and is one of the greatest pieces of music of all time.

On the program, also, is a trio by Beethoven for the same instruments, composed when he was just 27. Full of vitality, it also offers moments of tenderness and humor.

HausMusique's artistic directors, Meagan and Cameron, are thrilled to welcome one of Canada's most distinguished musicians, James Campbell, to play with them for this concert. A renowned clarinetist worldwide, he has performed alongside eminent musicians such as Glenn Gould and the famed American composer Aaron Copland.
