Description
The Major Synagogue of Barcelona is one of the oldest buildings in Europe used as a place of Jewish worship. Located in the old Call Mayor, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, its history dates back to Roman times. After centuries of changes and oblivion, it was rediscovered thanks to the work of the medievalist Jaume Riera y Sans in 1987. Today, restored with respect to its past, it opens its doors as a cultural space and living memory of the Jewish community in Barcelona. A must-see for history and heritage lovers.
