Description
The Major Synagogue of Barcelona is one of the oldest buildings in Europe used as a Jewish place of worship. Located in the old Call Mayor, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, its history dates back to the Roman era. After centuries of changes and neglect, it was rediscovered thanks to the work of medievalist Jaume Riera i Sans in 1987. Today, restored with respect for its past, it opens its doors as a cultural space and living memory of the Jewish community in Barcelona. An essential visit for lovers of history and heritage.
