About the Artists

Gareth Lubbe is a South African-born multi-instrumentalist and overtone singer, renowned for his versatility across genres. Former principal violist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra (2007-2014), he now teaches at Folkwang University of the Arts. He has collaborated with Janine Jansen, Mischa Maisky, and Pinchas Zukerman, performing in major venues like Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. A master of overtone singing, he has taught worldwide, including at Juilliard and the St. Thomas Choir. His work spans classical, jazz, and experimental music, with recordings on Naxos, Signum, and BIS. Lubbe is also an ambassador for social initiatives in South Africa.

Hayden Chisholm, a New Zealand saxophonist and composer, is celebrated for his pure, microtonal sound. Described as one of the most important alto saxophonists in jazz history, he developed a radical microtonal system and has composed for site-specific installations in collaboration with Rebecca Horn. His awards include German Jazz Album of the Year and the SWR Radio Jazz Prize. Based in Belgrade, he founded BAM club, a key underground music venue in the Balkans. Passionate about education, he gives global masterclasses on harmonics and intonation.
